100 Days to Health - Day 17 | Slow and Steady

Week 3 –  Day 17 Slow and Steady

Tip for the Day

This is not a race or a religion, you have the rest of your life to get healthy. Slow down, breathe deeply and give thanks.

This week have you written down or mentioned what you are grateful for? If not, find or phone someone and tell them what you are grateful for even if its just to say “I’m grateful to have you in my life.”

Dale Carnegie said that “Everybody likes a compliment.” Can you imagine how the special person in your life would feel, if the compliment you gave them was about something you were genuinely grateful for.

When it comes to your own life, ask for wisdom and the strength to make better choices. Always make a point of giving thanks before you eat anything. It is a lot harder to eat junk food when you do this.

If you are planning to eat something that is not ideal for you health, then first drink a glass of water, then eat any raw vegetable and then eat the junk food. Do not obsess over it. Your body will suffer anyway, so don’t punish yourself mentally as well.

Just learn each time and move on.

Recipe for the Day

Mushroom and Celery Salad with Mayonnaise

2 cups white mushrooms, sliced

3 celery sticks, finely sliced

1 cucumber, cubed

1 cup of cashew nuts

Dressing

1/2 cup of homemade mayonnaise (recipe from Day 13 of Week 2)

2 tsp lemon juice

A pinch of cayenne pepper/dried chillies (optional)

Combine and serve over the above salad ingredients.
