One of the most powerful things about the internet is that it makes it so easy to check out research. When trying to find the truth about nutritional issues, establish who paid for the research. Genuine research will indicate who funded it.

Look at how may supplements and health related products are out there, yet our health is getting worse and we continue to be impressed when companies produce an article showing research that backs their own products. For years the dairy industry has been telling us that milk, yoghurt, and cheese prevent osteoporosis (brittle bone disease). Yet the countries that consume the most milk and dairy products have the most osteoporosis and the countries that consume few dairy products have the least brittle bone disease.

Try not to feel overwhelmed at this point. Remember the ‘Keep It Simple’ guideline and if you need some help to be less confused about health issues, I strongly suggest that you get a copy of The China Study (available at www.benbellabooks.com or in South Africa at www.naturalway.co.za ). It really is the definitive book on nutritional research. 

Chances are, this book will confirm why you should change to a healthier lifestyle and you will be more informed to make better choices.

Recipe for the Day

Stuffed Tomatoes

4 tomatoes, large

1/2 cup sprouts

12 olives, sliced

1/2 cup of raw cashew nuts

1 Tbs fresh rocket, chopped

Mary-Ann’s Organice Garlic and Herb Salt to taste.

Cut the tops off the tomatoes and scoop out the inside. Mix the sprouts, olives, nuts, rocket and salt. Fill the tomatoes with the mixture and serve on a platter.
