100 Days to Health - Day 024 | More Fruit

Week 4 –  Day 24

Tip for the Day

The best way to eat fruit is in its whole state, but obviously being creative with fruit recipes makes meals a bit more interesting. Remember to buy fruit in season, not only is it cheaper but it tastes sweeter and healthier.

Summer fruits include mangoes, litchis, grapes, watermelons, peaches, nectarines, apricots, cherries, strawberries and plums. While winter fruits are oranges, tangerines, papaya, kiwi fruit, guavas, apples and pears. Bananas and pineapples are available all year round. Although many of these fruits are available all year round, they are often kept in cold storage for up to nine months. Flavour and nutrients are lost during storage and the cores are often bad.

If you follow Good Habit # 4 ( Step 1 – Perfect Health) you will find yourself satisfying the body’s need for glucose and supplying yourself with ample vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. You will save yourself the cost of expensive useless supplements, while at the same time benefiting your health.

“Go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.”

Recipe for the Day

Apple Cider – The Natural Way

8 cups apple juice, freshly extracted juice is best – I assume you are having guests as this is a large quantity!

4 celery sticks, juiced

Juice of 1 lemon.

A pinch of cinnamon powder and a pinch of nutmeg powder.

Mix all the ingredients together, adding the spices according to your own taste. Serve in a tall glass. This ‘cider’ is especially delicious when chilled ingredients are used.
